Plant-rich, low saturated

King's College London. "Plant-rich, low saturated-fat diet associated with reduced psoriasis severity." ScienceDaily. ScienceDaily, 21 February 2025. <www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2025/02/25022112...

Plant-rich, low saturated

Researchers from King's College London conducted an analysis of data from over 1,000 participants in the UK Biobank cohort. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between dietary patterns and psoriasis severity. After adjusting for various confounding factors, the results showed that a diet rich in plant-based foods and low in saturated fats was associated with reduced psoriasis severity. Specifically, individuals who adhered to this dietary pattern had lower levels of inflammation and improved skin symptoms.

The study's findings have implications for the management of psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by scaly skin patches. While the exact mechanisms underlying the association between diet and psoriasis are not fully understood, previous research has suggested that a plant-rich diet may help reduce inflammation and promote skin health. The results of this study support the need for further investigation into the role of dietary interventions in managing psoriasis symptoms.
