A recent study has found that consuming a diet rich in plants and low in saturated fats may help alleviate symptoms of psoriasis. Researchers from King's College London investigated the relationship between dietary patterns and psoriasis severity.

A new study published by researchers at King's College London has shed light on the potential benefits of a specific dietary pattern for individuals with psoriasis. The investigation, which drew data from a large cohort of patients, discovered that those who adhered to a plant-rich, low saturated-fat diet experienced reduced severity of their psoriasis symptoms. This finding is particularly notable given the growing awareness of the role of nutrition in managing chronic conditions.

The researchers examined the dietary habits and health outcomes of over 2,000 individuals with psoriasis, using a standardized questionnaire to assess their eating patterns. The participants were then divided into three groups based on their dietary intake: those who followed a plant-rich, low saturated-fat diet; those who consumed a moderate amount of animal products and saturated fats; and those who adhered to a high-animal-product, high-saturated-fat diet.

The results showed that individuals in the first group had significantly reduced psoriasis severity compared to those in the second and third groups. This association remained significant even after controlling for other factors that may influence psoriasis symptoms, such as age and body mass index. While more research is needed to confirm these findings and establish causality, this study suggests that dietary changes may be a valuable adjunctive therapy for patients with psoriasis.
